Committee roles
Chair
It is the ultimate responsibility of the Chair to co-ordinate
the activities of the district, ensuring that IOSH’s aims and
objectives are met. In the event of a tied committee vote, the
Chair has the casting vote.
District Chairs are ex-official members of District committees.
Vice-Chair
The Vice-Chair assists the Chair in co-ordinating the activities
of the district. The Vice-Chair may be called upon to stand in for
the Chair at meetings or events.
Often, though not always, the Vice-Chair will be voted in as Chair
for the next term.
District Secretary
District Secretaries co-ordinate the administration of their
district and maintain all relevant documentation, records and
correspondence.
They are responsible for minutes and are usually the main point of
contact between their district and IOSH networks staff. The
secretary will be responsible for the laptop computer from the
district toolkit.
District Treasurer
District Treasurers are responsible for maintaining the accounts
of the district and liaising with the Branch Treasurer over
expenditure and reimbursement of expenses.
District Treasurers are ex-official members of district and section
committees.
Programme Secretary
The programme Secretary is responsible for agreeing an annual
speaker programme with the district committee. Further
responsibilities include contacting and arranging speakers for
district meetings and seminars and will be responsible for the
visual aids from the district toolkit associated with presentations
(Multi-media projector, voice recorder and microphones etc).
Web Champion
The Web Champion is responsible for maintaining the district's
microsite on the IOSH Branch website. The Web Champions’ microsite
provides full guidance on how to do this, and IOSH’s dedicated Web
team will assist if there are any problems.
Committee members
Committee members will provide general help with achieving the
district’s aims and objectives.
Note: All Executive Committee Members are asked to
attend District Meetings and Executive Committee meetings when
available, and to send apologies to the Secretary if they are
unable to attend.
