Overview
The Midland Branch meeting for 1 March 2012, will
feature a presentation by Steve Youngman entitled “A Construction
Inspector Calls"
The
Presentation:
Steve's presentation involves discussing the HSE enforcement
action (Advice, Investigations, Prohibition/Improvement
Notices and Prosecutions) that he has been involved with whilst
at the HSE
Construction Division.
Steve gives a unique
insight into Construction Health and Safety both as a duty holder
and regulator.

Increase your knowledge base on construction health and safety,
learn from the mistakes of others and understand what to expect
from a visiting construction HSE Inspector in respect of the
main ''topics'' of enforcement.
Our Speaker
Steve has spent 33 years in the construction
industry starting off as a site engineer and worked up to become a
Construction/Commercial Director.
From 2009 - 2011 he was employed by Health and Safety Executive as
one of HM Inspectors of Health and Safety (FOD Construction
Division). His roles and responsibilities included the
following:-
- To ensure risks arising from
construction related work activities are
properly controlled through interventions and enforcement
action where appropriate.
- Enforcement action included giving advice, issuing
Prohibition
Notices, Improvement Notices and Prosecutions.
- Training of new or inexperienced HSE Inspectors in
the FOD
Construction Division
- Accident investigation and reporting.
- Investigating complaints.
- Inspection of Asbestos Licence Removal Notifications
(ASB5)
- Carrying out presentations and training to the
public/private sector.
