IOSH UAE
Welcome to IOSH in the United Arab Emirates
As IOSH UAE Coordinator, I have been tasked with organising
events in the region and promoting the development of the network
in this region. With over 300 IOSH members, the UAE has the largest
number of members within the Middle East branch
Our aims are:
- increase Membership
- assist graduate members in working towards chartered
membership
- contribute to health and safety legislative developments.
This year we will be working to increase membership by
promoting IOSH to a wider audience through marketing initiatives
and liaison with other safety groups. Our attempts will
emphasise the networking opportunities that exist through IOSH
membership and the benefits to be gained from sharing and
disseminating best practice.
Many of our members have not made the step from graduate to
chartered membership. Chartered membership of IOSH represents a
significant achievement for health and safety professionals and the
Middle East branch wants to support members in achieving this goal.
We intend to hold IPD workshops to explain to members how IPD is
undertaken in practice.
Our membership in the UAE represents a significant pool of
knowledge and expertise. We are looking to harness these
competencies and assist governments in developing HSE legislative
requirements. This will be achieved through working groups, in
which IOSH members with particular specialisms will contribute to
proposed developments. We will also look to hold joint events with
regulators, including Sector Regulatory Authorities, to build upon
existing relationships and raise the profile of IOSH at a strategic
level.
I look forward to working with all of you in achieving these
aims and hope to see you at one of our forthcoming events
