Public Services Section
The Public Services Section is an active and long established part of the Manchester and North West Branch. As a committee, every year, we try to bring you a variety of speakers and a variation of topics, with the aim of appealing to as wide an audience as possible. The event is open to all safety professionals whether working in the public or private sectors alike, and covers topics that all safety professionals will benefit from.
Although the main focus of the meeting is the presentation, there is also a great opportunity for networking opportunities that attending the meetings brings. Not only do we get to meet new people in our own profession, we also learn from shared ideas, views and experiences. Our members are open to sharing their experiences, both good and bad, which is beneficial to those who may be starting out or just looking for new alternative approaches.
We usually meet on the second Tuesday afternoon of each month at the Brookfield Masonic Hall, Westhoughton. It is located off the M61 (junction 5 or 6) near Bolton. For those who use navigation systems, the postcode is BL5 3SP.
Our presentations start at 13.30 however from 12.30 we provide a light buffet lunch and an opportunity to network. However, on occasions we have joint meetings with others or we have the meeting at another location, therefore it is always best to check the IOSH website for details of each meeting.
Please come along and support us or even better join us. If you want to get involved or if you have ideas where we could improve or better meet the needs of our members, please come and talk to a member of the committee when you next visit.
