Welcome
Welcome to the Manchester and North West
Districts Branch.
As the Manchester and North West
Districts branch of IOSH, we actively promote and support corporate
& social responsibility for occupational safety and wellbeing
within our branch area.
Health and safety isn't just a job
to our members – they're passionate about protecting people,
whether that’s employers, employees, the community which we all
serve or the environment in which we all have to live.
We believe in a sensible approach
to managing health and safety, and environmental issues and that
they should be performed according to the highest standards and
ethical principles, maintaining respect for human dignity and
equality.
Even if you’re not interested in
becoming a health and safety professional, there is plenty for you
here with us. We believe that everyone has a right to a healthy and
safe working environment; we work hard to provide information and
help to people, so they can take a sensible and practical approach
to health and safety –whatever they do for a living. A big part of
what we do is based on delivering knowledge and experience where
it's needed through events, meetings and our qualified, experienced
members supporting others . We believe we have a unique opportunity
to bring about change and improvements at local branch level.
But to make our branch fully
credible, we need people from all walks of life who are interested
in sensible health and safety. We need them to share in our
meetings and discussions, and get involved in our activities. We
also need people to share their experiences and knowledge to help
us keep an outward focus. There are many opportunities for you if
you'd like to get more involved in the Branch and its
activities.
Here on our website, you'll find
local information specific to the North West, including details of
events, meetings and their venues planned for the coming year.
Even if you can’t make it to our
meetings, minutes and presentations can be found in the documents
section of this website.
Meetings are free of charge but
some seminars and events may have a small charge to cover costs.
Whatever your area of interest or professional specialisation,
there will be something of interest for you.
In the North West, whether you just
need help with your professional development, want an opportunity
to discuss a problem or network and keep up to date with
developments, best practice, then we're the branch for you
Remember we are your branch and we
are there for you.
