Welcome

Manchester and North West districts banner

Welcome to the Manchester and North West Districts Branch.

As the local branch of IOSH, we promote occupational safety and wellbeing in our area for the benefit of all.

Here you'll find information specific to the North West, including details of events and meetings planned for the coming year and where we meet.

Whatever your interest in safety, health or environmental management, you'll find a wide range of meetings, seminars and workshops at a location close to you, even though our area is about 200 miles long.

All our events provide the opportunity for discussion, networking and keeping up to date with developments and best practice. Meetings are free of charge but some seminars may have a small charge to cover costs. Whatever your area of specialisation, there will be topics of interest for you. In a typical year we hold about 60 events.

If you need help with your professional development, then we're here to help. If there's something you want that isn't being offered, just ask for it, as there is a good chance that someone else is thinking the same.

The Branch Plan sets out the branch's organisation and arrangements. The Branch and District Committees will build on the plan, continuing to provide professional development opportunities for members and non-members alike. Wherever we can we will use advances in technology to improve communications with those who cannot meet face to face.

However you choose to engage with us, remember that it's your branch and it's there to help you to improve occupational safety and health.  There are many opportunities for you if you'd like to get more involved in the Branch and its activities.

Finally, if you can’t make it to a meeting, minutes and presentations can be found in the documents section of this site.

Des Riley, Branch Chairman
on behalf of all the members of the branch

Please read the Branch Chairman's latest message, which provides further details about the imminent AGM and the joint meeting in June at Barton Grange, with a Presidential visit from our own John Holden.
