IOSH membership grade:

CMIOSH

Why I serve as a Committee Member

I want to be actively involved in raising the profile of Health and Safety and the influence of IOSH at both a local and national level. I am also keen to develop people who are involved in the IPD scheme and aspiring to Chartered membership.

My specialist skills & knowledge:

I have been involved in Health and Safety full-time for the past 10 years and during that period l have facilitated a number of training programmes including risk assessment, off-site activities, manual handling, DSE, fire marshalling, COSHH, and first aid; this is an area I particularly enjoy. I have also written a number of polices and procedures and given various presentations relating to Health and Safety in the workplace.

My background and experience:

I have worked in a cross-section of organisations including Ambulance Trusts, Education, Local Authorities and Police Services. Currently I am the Risk Manager at Lloyd’s.  I have a MSc in Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety Management, and I have qualified as a Lead Auditor for BS OHSAS 18001. I am also Vice Chair of the Public Services Group.

My interests:

I am a keen road cyclist and during May 2011 l will be cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats for Action Medical Research, which is a national children’s charity. I am also a keen supporter of Fulham Football Club.

My favourite music:

Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits.

My favourite film:

The Rock staring Sean Connery.
