Although the construction industry safety record has been
improved in recent years, however, it is noted that Hong Kong,
amongst the major developed regions such as UK, EU, Japan, Taiwan
and Singapore, etc., has the highest fatality rate per 1,000
workers. Following the recent multi-fatalities and the long overdue
of safety management initiatives, there is an urgent need to review
the situation. This Workshop aims to gather the views and
recommendations from the safety practitioners who play key roles in
accident prevention. The Workshop, first of its kind, organized by
local associations, will be held as scheduled below:
Speakers & Topics
Participants will be divided into 6 groups for discussions and
led by the facilitators. At the end of the discussion session, each
group will draw up their conclusions and report back in the
Workshop. The views and opinions generated in the Workshop will
then be recorded and a technical report will be compiled and
forwarded to relevant stakeholders including the government
departments for consideration.

Topics of Group Discussion:
Group A:How to enhance communication among Labour Department,
construction companies and safety practitioners? ;
Group B:How to prevent most frequent types of fatal accidents in
construction sites, using the recent ICC accident as an
example;
Group C:How to enhance the image, status & qualifications (if
need) of RSOs in construction industry;
Group D:How to enhance the site safety management in HK
construction industry from the perspective of clients, developers,
contractors, etc;
Group E:How to improve health and safety in Hong Kong construction
industry from a government perspective?
Group F:How to enhance health and safety standard of SME
contractors.
To facilitate our arrangements, please choose 3 groups you are
interested and prioritize them in order. We will attempt to arrange
as much as per your wish but in some cases, we may need to move you
into another group, if necessary. In any case, we will inform you
in advance your allocated group by email. You are also requested to
be well prepared by writing down some bullet points of your views
before the Workshop so as to enhance the efficiency and
effectiveness of the discussion.
What you need to know
Registration: please reserve your seat by Online Registration as
follows:
The Workshop is free of charge and the administration charge for
the CPD certificate will be HK$100 for HKOSHA members and PolyU
Staff/Students, and HK$150 for non-members. Duration of this CPD
event will be 3.5 hours. Attendance Certificate will be issued to
the participant upon the completion of the Workshop.

(Fax No.:2770 0542). Please send the cheque to the Association at
GPO Box 7100, Central, Hong Kong. Alternatively, you may pay
directly to our bank account (HSBC, no.: 111-078119-001), and fax
or mail the transaction record to the Association for confirmation.
The cheque should be crossed and made payable to “Hong Kong
Occupational Safety and Health Association”. Please enrol early as
seats are limited and on a first-come-first-served basis.
