Coshh Update
08 December 2010
During the branch event, a brief presentation
was given to highlight the changes occurring from December 2010
regarding the classification, labelling and packaging of chemicals
and hazardous substances.
Changes will be phased in between December
2010 and 2017 and involve the removal of our familiar hazard
warning symbols (orange rectangle with black symbol e.g. black X,
depicting irritant), which will be replaced with similar symbols to
appear on a diamond shaped label with a white background, and red
edges. This isn’t the only change. Risk (R) and (S) Safety phrases
will also change to become hazard statements and precautionary
statements.
Other changes were also outlined in the
presentation.
We hope you find it useful.
Presentation prepared by Essex Branch members Karen Hoskins and
Richard Crickmore.
