Construction Safety - Olympics 2012
Over eighty IOSH Members and guests
attended the IOSH East Midlands Branch meeting on the 21 October
2010 at the National Water Sports Centre, Nottingham.
Guest speaker for the evening was former IOSH President Lawrence
Waterman.
In his current role Lawrence oversees health and
safety across the Olympic construction project and he informed
members of how health and safety issues have been addressed
throughout the stages of project as well as the
challenges still to be faced.
Information relating to accident statistics, near miss reporting
and the management structure adopted for health and safety during
the project were all included in the presentation.
Some of the health and safety initiatives that have
been trialled as part of the project were discussed along with
the potential legacy from the planning and construction
phases that maybe used in future health and safety
projects.
Lawrence has kindly made a copy of his presentation available
for IOSH East Midlands Branch members and this can be accessed via
the members area of the website.
