35th IOSH National Safety Symposium
23 September 2010
The 35th IOSH National Safety Symposium was
held at the Nottingham Belfry Hotel on 05, 06 and 07 September.
This year’s topic of ‘Managing Occupational Road Risk’,
which attracted over 140 delegates and over 25 speakers,
addressed managing occupational road risk on day one and provided
best practice and legal updates on day two.
The opening welcome was given by the East Midlands Branch Chair,
Richard Whitehead. In his address, Richard welcomed all delegates,
speakers and guests to both the conference and Nottingham. After
explaining a little about what Nottingham is famous for, he went on
to talk about what has been happening at the East Midlands Branch
with the change of name, the work of the committee, recent one-off
events and the program for the next twelve months. The challenges
ahead for safety practitioners in the public sector were
highlighted and the presentation was summarised by inviting all
attendees to visit the East Midlands Branch meetings.
This was the second time the Symposium has been held in
Nottingham.
