International bodies
International Labour Organization
IOSH is formally recognised as an international non-governmental
organisation (NGO) by the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The ILO is the tripartite UN agency that brings together
governments, employers and workers of its member states in common
action to promote decent work throughout the world.
IOSH is working with the ILO on a variety of projects, including
the fifth edition of the Encyclopaedia of Occupational Safety and
Health.
IOSH – a CIS Centre
In 2009, we were formally recognised as a Collaborative CIS
Centre by the ILO SafeWork department. CIS is the knowledge
management arm of the ILO's programme on Safety and Health at Work
and the Environment (SafeWork). Its goal is to ensure that workers,
and everyone concerned with their protection, have access to the
facts they need to prevent occupational injuries and diseases. As a
CIS Centre, IOSH acts as a focus for information exchange at a
national and regional level.
